Life After Death

I gave this speech on Life after Death in March , though I received the VCD only  recently. I have uploaded it to my account (named Prakash Shesh) on You Tube and am giving you a link to it, below. Rotary Club of Nagpur had a record attendance of about 150 that day and as was expected, the speech generated a lot of debate . I am sure you will enjoy listening to it.

Do let me have your comments - you can post them on the you tube channel itself.

Hi Prakash,
It was an interesting talk referring to Balu in one of your statements about keeping the mini model in Balaji temple.

There would be numerous views on 'Life after Death' - I would think it will ultimately depend on the belief systems we have been bombarded with all these years (programmed) and our comfort zone!! One of the latest I am told is that there would be no transfer from "Human Kingdom" to "Animal Kingdom" or vice-versa, irrespective of our 'Karma' - happy thought . It's also been quoted that our 'Soul' has no memory but carries only the 'sanskars' and Karmic account (Balance Sheet) to the next birth (if you believe).

And so the statements go on and on .......

It's an excellent idea to donate our bodies for medical research. My father did that and so have I and my wife. That's the best 'seva' one can perform - irrespective of different beliefs and what happens when we pop off.

Prakash you have ignited a topic that would attract a long drawn discussion.

Best

Vijay

PDS

I am more convinced that what we are, gets pretty much set by the time we are 5 years old. Very little changes beyond that.

It was good to see (though barely) and hear the same PDS that I knew 40 years ago. Little has changed. Very comforting!!

Thanks for sharing Prakashji.. It was enlightening experience...
Am happy & impressed by your well researched talk..
Hearty congratulations...
Wish video recording could have been equally good..
None the less, i agree with almost everything u talked except the statistical part..which as the cliche goes is like a bikini suit & even a devil can quote statistics to further his/her cause.. after all "logic" too has its own absurdities..
Concluding always is not necessarily meaningful..

More when we meet to discuss modalities of body donation movement..
With Best wishes.

The speech was marvelously enjoyable. I heard it thrice and have forwarded to many relatives of mine. I especially liked the DG and DOG satire.

I don't even know what will happen to me tomorrow-- so really don't care about the next life! But if you can hold the attention of Rotarians for 48 mins then it is really creditable. All the same a good & entertaining talk, but frankly I think all those scientists & Ph Ds were wasting their own (and our time). I totally agree with you when you say that all those 'near death' experiences were a result of conditioning.

Interesting and very good. I watched it yesterday

Would like to listen to more such speeches. Found it really interesting and have shared this with my friends.

Excellent interpretation of the eventuality before experiencing it ! Very captivating and interesting speech. It gives us enough food for thought that we should celebrate natural death just the way we celebrate birth of a child.
I feel that if we treat ourselves as tourists on this planet; then we will live our life to the fullest and death would be just a transit to the next destination....
Thanks for stimulating the processing of the mind Prakash Sir....!!!

Nice 1 sir.. especially the last few lines!! It proved out to be a brain storming speech.. Pls keep coming more. A pleasure to listen!

Hi Prakash,
I saw this. Superb!
Every point well taken.

Dear Sir,

Hearing you after a very long time is really a pleasure. You are simply great. Talking on a subject as this for 45 mins. and not a single min. of it was boring.

Dear Prakash Sir

Very Good Day,

Saw your address on life after death. Heartiest congratulations for having such a balanced view.

You should be on International circuit of lecturing.

We are proud to know you and interact with you.

May we all get emancipated from our blind faith and evolve as a civilsed and knowledge driven human being.

It would be a great honour to meet you in person in Nagpur at the first opportunity.

Very nice speech sir.

The speech was a treat and thought provoking too. The main characteristic of life is to live , continue and to propagate .
It never dies as the living material in you is passed on to the next generation.
As a biologist I do believe that one continues to live for generations.
About rebirth there is doctrine of karma which I think gives some solace to weaker corner of our mind.
The ghost theory was interesting

sir .....I'm agnostic....... so please don't consider me as believer ......

however I've few points :

- why would Buddha lie?........I mean he was a king and left everything for finding the meaning of life....why would he lie about concept of past lives

- how is it that life is evolving..................I mean how come the genes are coded,

- why some people face miseries while some don't....... u can fall back on statistics to answer this ...but think from an individual person point

- Why I can't be Sachin Tendulkar....... I mean how much hard I try ......why somethings come naturally to some whereas others can only dream of it.

- How the ideas arrive in your mind .....many times things comes in mind without you trying to make effort
......... what is this subconscious mind ......why we evolve to have a subconscious mind

- I agree with most of your thoughts on afterlife and NDEs but what about this case of Anita Moorjani

- Why do we feel good when we meditate

- how come brain sends signal in electonic pulses.....how come birds evolve to fly whereas human who is so inclined towards flying couln't develop that gene

- Also what is this concept of I in the mind .....I mean without me what is this world.....once I'm gone then it is done

- Also if everything is chance and there is no meaning

Most of my questions may resonate with the religious hardliners out there ....but I'm not nor I'm trying to attempt to be disrespectful to your chain of thought in any way

I agree with you in our interpretation of Ramayana, Garud purana and other religion related stuff ......

but I'm not sure that whether life is just which appears on the surface and might have more to it

Hearty greetings from Pune.

Since I wanted to listen to your talk on "Life after Death" without any disruptions, I had delayed the matter till yesterday.

Your talk was indeed very lucid and covered a whole lot of diversity. I liked the touch of humour at various points and more so in your Hearty greetings from Pune.

I fully agree with your rationalist approach to the topic - we all have a subliminal desire for immortality and are therefore gullible towards any school of thought which supports that idea.

I am also in full agreement with your recommendation in the end - I have also donated my body to the Armed Forces Medical College here.

The underlying theme of the discussion sir,was the effect of conditioning & the basic instinct of humans of trying to relate to something which corroborates to this conditioning & their own thought.Empirical & unquestionable as it is,it works both ways.It can make u a believer or a non-believer.The part that caught my attention the most was the part about "objective thinking", about retaining that 1% chance but being careful enough not to take decisions which override the 99%.
